Mustang enthusiasts, strap in! JBA Speed Shop, one of the last remaining true Speed Shops, has just announced the release of the new, third generation Wide-Body Kit, the JBA Dominator GTC Wide-Body Kit for the 1979-1993 Ford Fox Body Mustangs.
This newly designed kit includes a front splitter with large air opening’s for both engine and brake cooling, wide front fenders and rear quarter extensions, side skirts with brake cooling vents, and rear bumper extension with Exhaust tip pass through. Also available are 3 rear wing and hood options, improving the car's appearance and performance.
Founded in 1986 and based in San Diego, California, JBA Speed Shop is a manufacturer of aftermarket parts and high-performance accessories for American Muscle cars. Making waves in the early 80’s, President, and CEO J. Bittle, launched the groundbreaking Cat4Ward header giving 50 Sate legal power and performance to the street driven masses. DOMINATOR GTA - 1989
J. Bittle American, as the World's #1 Ford Motorsport dealer, delivered excellence! After months of rumors, hints, tireless testing and technical development introduced the Dominator GTA to automotive world. A short three weeks after a "pedestrian looking" stock Ford Mustang LX rolled into JBA's service bay, an American Super Car rolled out. The Dominator GTA featured wide IMSA-style flares, a shocking '88 Merkur Bright Red paint job, and over 550 angry Horse's emanating from the JBA built and blueprinted 8800 RPM capable 5.0L engine. The original Dominator GTA was developed to compete in high speed shoot-outs as well as help Ford celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Ford Mustang.
RECORD SETTING INNOVATION
Led by J Bittle, the team's goal was to evolve the naturally aspirated 302cubic inch Mustang into the fastest street legal Mustang in the world. Turning Ford's pedestrian Fox Body Mustang into a Dominator Super Car. With some on track tuning & adjustments, including swapping out the 750cfm carburetor for a 1050cfm Dominator, giving up some down-force, lowering the drag co-efficient by removing the rear wing in favor of an aerodynamic Mercury Capri rear hatch, the Dominator GTA clocked speeds in excess of 178mph!
DOMINATOR GTB - 1993
In 1993 the development of the Dominator GTB project had reached the point where JBA was ready to prove to the world that their Dominator was not only the best performance Mustang in the world, but even more boldly- the best performing car in the world. Having already proven itself against the likes of the Callaway Corvette, the RUF Yellow Bird, the Ferrari GTO and the Porsche 959 - the Dominator GTB took on the best Chevrolet, Dodge & the tuning and hot rod world could offer as chronicled in the February 1994 Issue of Motor Trend Magazine.
It was the fastest accelerating car from 0-60, dominated the road course and out-performed both the Corvette ZR1 and the Dodge Viper in every performance category.
At the drag strip the Dominator smoked the nearest challenger by several car lengths. On the skid-pad, it pulled a 1.09G, not only besting the competition but also setting a Motor Trend record which stood for over twenty years.
